Who doesn't like the horsed which are going off at long odds? Obviously, the people who only bet the
favorites but they like them too when the long shots end up in exotic bets like trifectas, superfectas
and high 5's and they have structured their bets and have included them in their wagers.
One of the reasons people like the my YouTube Channel is because I check out the
potential long shot's previous races, their latest works and any comments that point to factors
which many other handicappers miss. I picked Mage in the 2023 Kentucky Derby based
on seeing Mage's 7 furlong maiden romp and looking at his pedigree. It takes guts to bet
on a potential Kentucky Derby winner when that horse has no qualifying points but I thought
it was a good bet and took a chance. Sure enough, Mage finished 4th in the 2023 Fountain of
Youth Stakes and collected 10 Kentucky Derby qualifying points and then he picked up 40 more
points with his 2nd place finish in the Florida Derby -- a race which he nearly won -- and he was
on his way to the Kentucky Derby. Mage was one of very few Kentucky Derby winners who did
not race at 2 years old and had only had only run 3 races prior to the Kentucky Derby.
